WHERE ART MEETS THE SEA
Following on from the @cornwallchurnart project which raised an incredible £50,000 in 2022 for Cornwall Hospice care volunteer fundraising Sue Dennett is championing a new artistic project for 2025 @whereartmeetsthewave, 40 wooden belly boards, specially made for the project by Fyne Boat kits of Kendal and Derek Thompson of Surf Classic boards, will be painted by 40 artists.
My board:
A cubist inspired semi abstract painting based on the iconic Wheal Coates tin mine, near St Agnes. One of my favourite subjects to paint using a limited warm palette with many layers of paint for clarity of colour. A layer of gloss vanish to finish.
All boards should be finished by April 2025 and they will be exhibited together at a number of locations across Cornwall details will be confirmed.
In parallel to the exhibitions similar to the milk churns, these boards will be available to bid to purchase via an online auction organised by @laysauctioneers of Penzance. Bidding will be open in Spring 2025 closing in a final exhibition in September.

Around Cornwall in 38 Churns is a passionately created art project by Sue Dennett to raise funds for Cornwall Hospice Care whilst showcasing Cornwall’s very talented artists and also high lighting various stunning locations across the county.
Each one of the artists involved have donated their time and talent to this project.
These very beautiful milk churns were kindly donated by Rodda’s Cornish Clotted Cream and the logo for the project was created by Blumin Creative.
Once all the painted churns are completed they will be on display either in the artists’ gallery or placed around Cornwall in places of interest or famous attractions. The idea is to create a fun and inspiring trail and donate along the way… if you so wish.
Each churn will be auctioned off in September with the auction being facilitated by David Lay Auctions where all the proceeds will go to Cornwall Hospice Care.
Visit Cornwall is also kindly assisting, making this an impressive and interesting exercise. There will be either an interactive map plus printed leaflets explaining which artists are kindly donating their time and where the completed churns will be displayed. So look out for the trail and make sure you follow and share our social media pages and stay tuned for all the latest updates and beautiful churn pictures.
